Tips For Buying Swimsuit

Second only to a root canal, is the joy a woman feels while shopping for a swimsuit.  For the plus size woman, the experience is more akin to having a root canal while in the final throes of labor.  Alas, this most dreaded of tasks need not be a trip to shopping hell.  Keeping in mind a few tips for your figure type will make buying a swimsuit a less than traumatic experience.

Buying a swimsuit online may be your best bet due to the vast array of swimsuits available versus the less than stellar selection of plus size suits available in most brick and mortar establishments.  Below are some guidelines for swimsuit selections for plus size women.

As with dressing in any clothing, you want your swimsuit to emphasize your best features.  Block coloring on swimsuits can help tremendously in bringing attention to your best attributes.  For instance, if you are small busted with larger hips, choose a swimsuit that has a block of bright color on the top with the bottom being dark.  This will naturally draw attention to the top half of your body.

If large hips and thighs are a concern, a suit with a skirt may be your best bet to provide the coverage you desire.  No longer are skirted suits reserved for poolside at the retirement community.  There are many stylish suits that have skirts and retain a youthful look.  There are also suits that are made like a sarong, which can also be flattering for larger hips and thighs.

If you tend to carry your weight in the stomach area, an empire style swimsuit will help hide your tummy.  Once again, choose a suit that has color around the neckline to draw the eye to your face.  Many suits have built-in control panels, which can be quite effective in minimizing the waistline.

For the large busted plus size, be sure to concentrate on support.  There are suits available that have underwire bras for ultimate support.  Look for suits with wide straps and small armholes both of which help with support.  Also, suits that feature an X, Y or V in the back will provide more support than the traditional U-shaped back.

If you keep in mind what figure areas you want most to emphasize, and those you would rather minimize, your online swimsuit shopping experience will not be torturous,  and you might actually find it goes forward quite swimmingly!
